Our Mission
We are planning to purchase land and construct a building that would give both Veterans’ families and our volunteers a place to gather, remanence and relax in between internments. The Fargo National Cemetery started at 5 acres in 2019 and expanded to 35 acres at the beginning of 2024. We are now working on purchasing 3 acres to start our building project. We are seeking to raise $5.5 million to purchase land adjacent to the Fargo National Cemetery to the east. Construct a building to house a chapel, space for Veterans’ families to gather before or following their loved one’s internment, break room for our Veteran volunteers with a secured safe for the Honor Guard to store their weapons, restrooms along with utility storage room. The building will include space for a military museum showcase and an office for a manager/curator.

Along with providing a Chapel and Family Facility there will be outdoor features that are constructed from the donations raised for the landscaping project. The funds will be allocated to each after plans are approved by building committee. The goal is to not only create an attractive setting that will be visited by travelers across the state but to ultimately memorialize all of the Veterans resting on the grounds.
Fargo Memorial Honor Guard believes that the interned Veterans and their Spouses deserve to have their Funeral or Memorial service conducted in a way that shows our ultimate respect towards them. It isn't unreasonable for our Organization to want to provide acceptable accommodations. The photos below illustrate our vision. The ability to have indoor services should be the basic tenant expected from the Veterans family. Our country isn't strong because of our State or Federal government, it's because every American does what's right. We want to do right by every Soldier, Airman, Marine, and Sailor who've courageously dawned a uniform for this country.
When we started discussion of the need to have a building in 2019 the estimate was starting at $500,000. After discussions with Contractors, Federal and State officials, and finally another 501(c)(3) our realistic budget needs to be at $5.5 Million. That's due to some expansions and scope of our initial design, but also the rising costs of raw materials. This may seem like a lofty goal to some. For the volunteers that have committed countless hours, days and weeks towards making this project a reality, it's the least they will do for our Veterans.
We've already had a ground swell of moral support from Cass and Clay County area business, entrepreneurs, and Veterans Organizations. Now is the time for action. We have started out strong with local and national monetary donations. The North Dakota National Guard have committed too assisting in the construction of the building and earth grading/excavation.
